General Election Information, Vote on November 3

Voting is one of the most important privileges we have as American citizens.  The November 3 General Election is quickly approaching.  Ohio’s early and absentee voting by mail started on Tuesday, October 6; Many Ohioans are already casting ballots.

There are three important Ohio state ballot issues on the November 3 General Election ballot that can affect the way that we live our lives and, ultimately, the way French Oil Mill Machinery Company is able to do business and thrive in the American economy. This election, voters have a say in these three important state issues.  Voters throughout the state will also elect Mayors, members of City Councils, vote on local levies and more.

It is in your own self-interest, for you, your family and your employer, that you take the time to become a knowledgeable manufacturing voter and to be educated about the upcoming issues and candidates.  We invite you to educate yourselves about political issues and to do your civic duty by voting on Election Day.

November 3 General Election, Ohio Ballot Issues:

Issue 1 Creates a bipartisan, public process for drawing legislative districts.

Issue 2 Anti-monopoly amendment; a Constitutional amendment placed on the statewide ballot by the Ohio General Assembly that would prohibit citizen petition-initiated Constitutional amendments that grant business monopolies for the economic benefit of certain individuals or entities.

Issue 3 – Constitutional amendment that grants 10 monopolistic growing licenses for the commercial production and sale of marijuana for recreational and medical purposes.

Piqua Public Library Levy Renewal – The levy to renew the operating expense funding for the Piqua Public Library will also be on the Piqua, Ohio, ballots.  A ‘yes’ vote on this issue will maintain current funding for the Piqua Public Library, a vital resource for our community that provides resources and services which promote community literacy, and other public resources, such as employment services, that are available for all.  The operating costs go toward funding basic items such as buying books and computer programs, paying employees, utility bills, and so on.

Last year the Piqua Public Library circulated books, movies, and other materials to 82,326 adults and teens, and 52,786 children, enriching their lives and providing a safe venue for after school and weekend activities. Our Library also reached out into the community, making 720 visits to provide reading materials and recordings to 1,325 housebound patrons who were unable to get to the Library. Public computers provided 18,313 adults and 5,215 children access to the Internet and other resources, to many whom have no other computer access.

As with the existing approved levy, the levy renewal is based on a rate of 1.3 mills.  If passed, the current out-of-pocket cost to Piqua, Ohio, homeowners will not change. If the levy does not pass, the library will be forced to cut their services 30-50%.

We hope you will participate fully in the electoral process.  For more information on the State and local issues, please use the links below:
